Well it’s been an exciting few weeks in my little watercolour world!
Thank you so much to everyone who voted for my entries to the SAA Artist of the Year 2022 competition. Unfortunately neither won the ‘People’s Vote’ ~ however, I’m very pleased to announce that my painting ‘Old faithful’ has won an SAA award!
I have entered the SAA competition several times and have made it through the first selection round a couple of times but have never made it to the finals.
You can’t imagine how thrilled I was to receive the notification that I had got through to the final round and then to receive an SAA award was the cherry on the cake!
I’m now in the process of getting my painting ready to send to the SAA so it can be part of their 2022 Exhibition. This will be held in Nottingham from 29th September – 4th October at the Nottingham Society of Artists’ Gallery.
In preparation, I decided to get my painting professionally framed by my fantastic local framer ‘The Gallery Caterham’. As you can see I have selected a mottled bronze finish, which helps to give it an 'industrial' feel as it brings out the rusty patches. I have kept the mount white so it creates a fresher look and helps to pick out those bright white hi-lights.
All I need to do now is package it up safely and send it off for hanging! All going well, the next time I see it will be at the private view on September 30th in Nottingham.
This will be my first experience of a private view event so I will brush up on my small talk as the thought of it is a wee bit nerve-racking ~ will keep you posted on how it goes!
If you've got any questions about this piece or the SAA feel free to ask.
Well done Tracey, its a brilliant picture and the way its been framed really makes it stand out, its almost 3D.
Enjoy the private viewing and you never know what may transpire from it. Cheers
Tracey !! So well deserved! So excited for you - enjoy the private view & just think this could be the start of something big….. 🤗
This is really exciting - it’s like knowing a celebrity. The frame looks great and your watercolour will make a distinctive addition to the exhibition.
Well done Tracey, fantastic news!
